Applications for admission to the undergraduate programs in the Department of Sociology are to be made through Columbia College or the School of General Studies, as applicable. Applicants must observe the deadlines of these respective institutions. Prospective undergraduates are not required to specify a field of study when they apply.
Students who wish to major or concentrate in sociology should see the Undergraduate Administrative Aide in the Department of Sociology once the required specialized introductory courses are complete and prior to continuing with subsequent requirements. Though a pre-medical concentration in sociology does not require specific advising in the department, the program may nonetheless include courses which require the approval of the Director of Undergraduate Studies.
