Degree Requirements

The Major in Sociology – 36 points

Required: 3 courses, 10 points

SOCI W1000 The Social World (3 points)
SOCI W3000 Social Theory (3 points)
SOCI W3010 Methods for Social Research (4 points)

Electives: 26 points in the Department of Sociology, to include 3 seminars (these may include the 2 semester Senior Honors Seminar)

The Concentration in Sociology – 26 points

Required: 3 courses, 10 points

SOCI W1000 The Social World (3 points)
SOCI W3000 Social Theory (3 points)
SOCI W3010 Methods for Social Research (4 points)

Electives: 16 points in the Department of Sociology: 5 courses to include 1 seminar

Departmental Honors

Minimum 3.6 GPA overall
Minimum 3.8 GPA in courses in the Department of Sociology

SOCI W3995-3996 2 semester Senior Honors Seminar
Prerequisite: Methods for Social Research and acceptance of research project by the faculty member teaching the Senior Honors Seminar. Submissions of research projects are due by May 1 preceding the Seminar.
